Our story
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES IN AFRICA
PHYNAI RURAL SUPPORT AND ENLIGHTENMENT FOUNDATION is an NGO in Nigeria that is committed to creating sustainable development and empowerment opportunities for underserved communities in Africa. Many rural communities in Africa are underserved, lacking access to social amenities that facilitates development. PHYNAI foundation is to bring about sustainable development in Africa. We are focused on the following area of developments.
Many rural communities in Africa still lack access to vital healthcare services. Phynai Foundation is committed to making health education/awareness and services in rural communities a major part of her activities. In partnership with other organization, we serve as health advocates for the rural dwellers. We support and promote the rights of patients in rural communities, help build capacity to improve community health, and enhance health policy initiatives focused on available, safe, and quality care. We carry out free medical/surgical outreaches to many rural communities. Thousands of rural patients have had free outpatient medical consultations/ treatment. This is in line with the SDG 3 which is to “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”
According to UNICEF, “Seventy-three per cent of the diarrhoeal and enteric disease burden is associated with poor access to adequate water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and is disproportionately borne by poorer children. Frequent episodes of WASH related ill-health in children, contribute to absenteeism in school, and malnutrition. Only 26.5 per cent of the population use improved drinking water sources and sanitation facilities. Also, 22 per cent of the population defecate in the open” in Nigeria. We are constructing boreholes and sanitation facilities for rural communities.
We care for orphans and vulnerable children through education, advocacy, healthcare services, nutrition, and psychosocial support for their holistic well-being.
Many rural communities in Africa are living below poverty level women and the children suffer most from this abject poverty. In order to help alleviate poverty in rural communities, PHYNAI FOUNDATION has a goal of empowering rural women as well as whole communities in rural areas with skills for better livelihood.
Millions of children in Nigeria don’t have access to quality education. we are building schools and providing quality education for children in rural communities without access to education. We are achieving this through different initiative like Lantern Schools (LS), Train Rural movement and others.
We promote animal welfare and livestock development support services to improve the health and well-being of animals in underserved areas in Nigeria. We do this by providing livestock health care, vaccinations, and other disease prevention programs for livestock and domestic animals, support sustainable livestock management practices among pastoralist communities, carry out training on animal husbandry, livestock breeding, and sustainable feeding and housing techniques.
